ABOUT US

Yellowhouse Machinery Company is the oldest John Deere construction equipment dealership west of the Mississippi; Mr. J.E. Hancock established the business in 1958 in Lubbock, Texas. At that time, there were no John Deere dealerships that were strictly construction, although there were many John Deere combination agriculture and construction dealerships. Mr. Hancock established Yellowhouse Machinery Company, John Deere’s first construction-only dealership, so that he could sell the Hancock Elevating Scrapers that he manufactured. Mr. Hancock hired Mr. Morris O. Kerr as general manager of this progressive enterprise. In 1960, Mr. Hancock sold Yellowhouse Machinery Company to Mr. Joe Thompson and Mr. Morris O. Kerr.

In 1986 Yellowhouse Machinery Company expanded to the Panhandle and opened its dealership in Amarillo under the direction of Mike Kerr, Morris’ son, when it bought Deckard Equipment Company. In November 1991, John Kritser bought Yellowhouse Machinery Company from Morris Kerr, Joe Thompson and Mike Kerr. In November 2001, Yellowhouse Machinery Company expanded south and opened dealerships in Abilene and Odessa. In January 2005, Yellowhouse opened in San Angelo, and in 2011 it built a new facility and dealership in Wichita Falls. Also in 2011, Yellowhouse acquired four dealerships in Oklahoma; Tulsa (Sand Springs), Enid, McAlester and Broken Bow. 2020 arrived and Yellowhouse added its eleventh location in Dalhart, Texas. Today, Yellowhouse Machinery Company sells and services John Deere construction equipment in 98 counties in Texas and 45 counties in Oklahoma and is headquartered in Amarillo, Texas.
